SoundHelix produces music (i.e., notes), not sound. The standard General MIDI devices on most operation systems provide a dry sound (i.e., without effects) and the instruments, which are usually just sampled sounds, may sound crappy, but that depends on the quality of your MIDI soundbank. The best results with SoundHelix can be achieved by using either an external hardware MIDI synthesizer with proper effects or a good MIDI synthesizer software running on your computer. This will give you the power to exploit all features of your MIDI setup. Note that you might need to install a MIDI hub software if you cannot directly connect to the MIDI device.
